Wire Basket Definition
A metal basket is a container made of an openwork metal pattern. As an alternative to a wicker or plastic basket, metal baskets can be used in the same way, such as organizing and storing items around the house. These baskets can also be found in grocery stores rather than plastic baskets. Unlike plastic storage containers, metal baskets usually do not have a lid. This makes a metal storage basket ideal for frequently used items, such as sports equipment stored in a garage. Another good use for a basket with handles is as a cleaning container. It can contain detergent and rags and be transported from room to room as needed. As a metal basket allows air to circulate through it, slightly damp cleaning cloths can be spread out on it to dry. There are many other types and shapes of these baskets in addition to the rectangular type with handles. For example, a metal basket can be round, oval or square, just like many wicker baskets. Some baskets, such as those shaped like a black metal bowl, are mainly used for decoration and can be interesting accent pieces for the home. Material cutlery trays tend to give a cutlery drawer a more sophisticated look than the plastic cutlery tray type.
Another type of metal basket is one that can be attached to a bicycle so that the cyclist can carry a few items. Most baskets designed for bicycles can be attached to the front of the bike with a screwdriver and/or wrench near the handlebars. A bike basket usually fits in a rack with screws and/or pliers used to attach the rack basket to the bike.
